Overall, Google Earth Pro has improved my efficiency and accuracy in the work assigned to me by giving me a more complete and detailed view of the architectural projects, soil surveys, and construction projects I have been involved with. Saving more placemarks, polygons, and paths to my places, directly affect the performance of the software.Īs a future architect interning at a construction company, my experience using Google Earth Pro has been incredible as this tool expanded my ability to perform geospatial research and analysis, giving me a detailed view of construction sites and their surrounding environments but most importantly, It helped me with my soil research. For example, QGIS provides a plugin called ‘Send2GE’, which is linked with Google Earth Pro. Further, this software is integrated with other spatial mapping software like ArcGIS & QGIS. This supports to import of various types of data formats including ESRI shapefile, Geo TIFF, kml, and images that are commonly used by spatial analysts. For landform mapping also I’m using this software to identify some physical features like escarpments, ridges, isolated hillocks, and slope types using the terrain option. In that case, I’m using Google Earth Pro to identify land use categories and their changes using historical imageries. As a planner, I’m doing land use and landform mapping to identify hazard-prone locations. With time, I have used Google Earth Pro for various purposes. My very first experience was identifying the locations using the search option. Currently, some countries are having 3D building facilities too. Further, this software is having a facility to generate elevation profiles by adding two points to a path. For example, it provides a street view imagery of most parts of the world and users can have a real feeling about the place. Google Earth Pro consists of several key features that are really helpful for spatial analysts and planners to understand a particular location. I’m using Google Earth Pro for more than two years. We can have virtual visits to places where we have never been before. I don't know how the Google satellites work, so it might not even be possible to add a day/night setting with our current technology. This software is a really good platform to understand the places. For example, you could set it to midnight setting, and everything would be dark and windows would be glowing. One thing that would be cool is adding a function where you could change the time of day. Overall, it's amazing, and I fully recommend it to any geography or history nerd. For two, places like China, Russia, and North Korea obviously aren't 3d because those countries dont give us permission to analyze there country at every angle thousands of times (for good reason). For one, most of the non-3d areas are random countryside's or small towns, which makes sense, as it would take so much effort to turn a tiny little town in the middle of Canada to 3d, and it's not worth it. Unfortunately, the whole world isn't 3d, but that makes sense for multiple reasons. This is a great app and I'd recommend getting it. And yes, even though I didn’t pay anything I still feel shortchanged. I now know that if I had a desktop I’d be able to look at the moon and mars so I feel really gypped now. Overall really great concept but what I’m gathering from other reviews, the app particularly for iPad is super low quality compared to others. It is absolutely impossible to tell one country/state from the next with the impossibly thin tan line separating everything that, oh yea, is the same color that is used for most of the landscape. Also, it would be really enjoyable (and easier on my old lady eyes) to be able to make borders bold or different colors or even cut out a region to view it individually. You can’t adjust any type of visual settings so if you zoom too far in on, say, China, you get a million different location names in English and Chinese and you can’t even see the land under all the text. I am terrible at geography and thought this would help me with a class I’m taking but I was mistaken. It’s like they took what they were in the process of developing years ago and just threw it up without even looking at it for a quick review. It takes a lot of disappointment for me to write reviews but this app is just so flat. Not Even Basic App Comforts (2020 iPad Pro)
